Chinchillas

Little kiddo, let's talk about Chinchillas as Aunty here is thinking of keeping one but not now as my current situation doesn't allow me to. Maybe in the future. Just maybe...

Don't know what they look like?

Can't figure out still? Carry on reading then...

Chinchillas are rodents that are native to the Andes Mountains of northern Chile. Often kept as pets, chinchillas are also prized for their luxuriously soft fur and were nearly driven to extinction because of the demand.

Chinchillas are related to guinea pigs and porcupines. With short forelimbs and long, muscular hind legs, chinchillas resemble rabbits, but their ears are much shorter and rounder. They have large, black eyes and bushy tails. They have four toes on each foot, and the thin claws on each toe are surrounded by stiff bristles.
Chinchillas are typically 9 to 15 inches (23 to 38 centimeters) long, but the tail can add another 3 to 6 inches (8 to 15 cm) to their length. They generally weigh 1.1 to 1.8 lbs. (0.5 to 0.8 kilograms).

They are very social and live in colonies that consist of hundreds of chinchillas. Females tend to be aggressive toward other females. When females are ready to mate, they can also be aggressive toward males, and are the dominant of the two genders. Females are mostly monogamous; they have only one mate throughout their lives. Males, on the other hand, can have many female mates. This is especially true of domesticated males. Often, one male is bred with many females to create many offspring to sell.

Once a female chinchilla becomes pregnant, she will carry her young for about 111 days before giving birth. Females have babies twice a year. Each time they give birth, they will have one to six babies. These groups of babies are called litters. Individual babies are called kits.
Newborn kits are born with hair and with their eyes open. They weigh only 1.2 ounces (35 grams). The babies nurse for six to eight weeks, and when they're about 8 months old, the babies are ready to have offspring of their own. Generally, chinchillas live eight to 10 years, though some have lived as long as 20 years.

To stay clean, these rodents give themselves dust baths. It is recommended that domestic chinchillas take dust baths once or twice per week in fine volcanic ash that can be purchased at pet shops.

Don't ask me how this fella gets out... Ha ha...

They cannot live in hot countries unless if you switch the air-con on 24/7. The max. temperature is 25 - 27 deg C. Higher than that, they will most probably suffer heat strokes and will most likely die. They are nocturnal creatures and lots of time has to be spent playing with them.

They also don't trust easily. It takes lots of time is all I can say and they definitely don't do well with young kids since they get terrified easily. Remember they are a prey in the wild. They are also known to be very intelligent. If you manage them really well, you can even hug them!

Having said so much, let Aunty show you which colour I like. ^^

This one cost SGD3K in Singapore!

Let me leave you with a funny looking photo...

Still can't figure them out? Ask Mommy to bring you to Pet Lovers Centre near Esplanade station. ^^

Have a great day ahead little kiddo!

A Card, A Lunch Out, A Purchase & Other Things...

Blessed Monday! It's a public holiday here in Singapore. Whoo hoo! I LOVE public holidays! =)
Warning: This will be a longer post than usual. Be prepared!

I went for my DFG class yesterday and I thank God that I stood firm and headed for the class even though a lady suddenly said she's not turning up. Initially, it's the 3 of us as the others were either overseas or have other obligations. When the lady suddenly said something cropped up, there's only the 2 of us. Anyone could have felt down, not motivated and cancelled the entire thing. I'm glad both my leader and myself stood firm & went ahead nonetheless. It turned out really well! =)

Before class, J & I went to Itacho Sushi @ Orchard Ion. It was my first time at Itacho. =)

Scallop & Lobster Sushi
This was really nice... I love it!

Green Tea Noodles
I'm glad to know that the dip doesn't just contain spring onion but also some radish and wakame seaweed.

Ikura Sushi
This was lovely as well! Love, love, love salmon roe!

Veggie Tempura to go along with my Green Tea Noodles
Nice, not oily. Thumbs up!

Fatty Salmon
This is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
This is actually 2 portions. J had 3 portions and 2 for me. ^^

Chicken Teriyaki for J
He is pretty predictable when it comes to food. >.<

I went to see Horlick on Saturday and he's at his usual fat!

Nonetheless, cuteness to the max =)

My dinner for Sunday
We are into IBS food. IBS is Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

1 of my creations for the church!

I did my BSF homework this morning. I haven't been the most diligent these days... Heck! I haven't even been doing my 40 Days devotion for more than a week now! =(

I finally bought a little gadget to hold my mobile while I do recording on my cards. It cost close to 13 bucks. I wouldn't say it's the best gadget but it'll do for now...

J & I went to ABC today for brunch.

The croissants are for him and the pain au chocolat is for me.
As usual, nice!

My favourite dessert - Paris Brest.
Generous filling of hazelnut cream with a couple of hazelnuts and almond pieces on crispy pastry. Yumz!

Bacon & Leek Quiche
I finally found a quiche I enjoy very much. So much, I bought 2 of the same thing!
I've also always enjoyed the balsamic dressing from ABC. It's thicker than the ones served elsewhere.
I snapped a photo of the bottle and will be making my way to get one myself! =)

Long Black for him and Osmanthus Sencha for me.
I've never been a fan of coffee. =)

We went to Paper Market as I wanted to get something. It turned out that it's not available and I ended up buying 3 x paper pads. Take a look!

I passed by a shop and couldn't resist getting something for Chub Chub. The bunny is calling out to me! Ha ha...

Isn't he just the cutest thing?!
He's made of cotton and he's 1 weird bunny.
1st, he's w/o eyes.
2nd, he's w/o his bob!

I hope your Monday went well... That's about all for me over the weekend and Monday. I've BSF lesson later today even though it's a public holiday today. Not that I'm complaining... In fact, I welcome it!

A Change in Daily Routine

I made a few changes to my lifestyle.

I drink a cup of warm water with 1/2 lemon juice first thing in the morning.
I walk from home to the office every morning. Driving will take 10 minutes. Walking is around 20 - 30 minutes.
I walk from the office back home every evening.
I do hair treatments every Wed and Sun at home.

I've been doing the above from yesterday.
I weigh myself this morning and I'm at 60.6 kgs with 34.1% fats.

I intend to do this for a month and do the weighing again.

I'm having problems with my poo. I've constipation and the Squatty Potty doesn't help to make hard stool soft. It only aids by having a more thorough release.
I've read that drinking warm water with lemon works and that exercising works.
I don't really have time for exercising as I'll either be crafting or doing my homework after dinner. Hence, walking to and fro office is a good idea. It gets me moving.

As for the hair treatments, well, friends who know me personally know that my hair isn't at its best condition. I've experienced hair loss for many years now. I've tried different hair dermatologist and they don't work. Since J bought a steamer some months back, I decided to try out the hair treatments at home as well. We'll see how it goes...

Well, that's about all the changes I have made.

I'm going to see Chub Chub this Sat and I'm going to make sure I spend more than 4 hours with her this time. I miss her so and she's going back to KL probably next weekend. I drat that. I was with her last Sat and we went to Old Airport Road for breakfast which was good. We had wanted to go to the beach but because I've to leave at 11.30 a.m., we couldn't. Hence, come this weekend, I intend to spend more time with her. I might suggest to her Mommy to bring her swimming! =) Looking forward...

Have a blessed day!

#PrettyPinkPosh
#GreetingFarm
#MamaElephant

I bought all these 4 x Greeting Farm stamps

I bought the one on the left only
The one on the right? I decided not to get it though I love the font... Someday...

Well, I've been busy over the weekend and I was busy with the making of cards. I also visited my Chub Chub and my my, she's grown so quickly. She's able to flip easily and get herself on a sitting position very quickly. She's also more stable in the sitting position now and requires no support. Her hands also start to get itchy and want to open drawers now. I was told that she likes to open 1 particular drawer where there's a mirror in it and she would keep staring at the girl looking back at her. Ha ha... How adorable!

Well, that's about all for my weekend... I'll need to get some copic markers while they are on promotion this week! Have a fantabulous Monday!

17.07.2014

Feeling down, singing a song to calm myself down. Then, this came up:

A little song,
A little verse,
A little something always to remind you of Him.

Lean not on human but on God
for His love is unconditional
& He is dependable.

Following Jesus is tough business but it can also be very enjoyable.
It just depends on which stage of life you are at now and what your environment is like.

Now, it feels tough for me and I've to keep reminding myself of the Almighty Him to keep myself on track.

Have a great Thursday Y'all!

Shaker Card

So I did another card yesterday as a friend requested for it.

I used a die and sequins from #PrettyPinkPosh.
I've no speech die and so, I stamped the word 'Hello' and cut it out myself.
The outer frame is a paper from one of the paper pad, either Lawn Fawn or Dear Lizzy. Can't remember.
This is a shaker card and the sequins are both 6mm and 4mm Cobalt, Raspberry and Lemon Meringue.
The bear there is from a MaMa Elephant stamp set called 'Peekaboo' I believe.
The grass is a Lawn Fawn die - Grassy Border.

I must say I liked how it turned out... The inside saying is from a MaMa Elephant stamp set. I believe it's called Up & Away. I took the 'The Best is Yet to Come, hang in there'.

I'm sure I'll find other ways to use the sequins. They are absolutely gorgeous! =)

Till next time...

#PrettyPinkPosh

#PrettyPinkPosh

I must say I'm in love with my items.
Incidentally, my Squatty Potty arrived earlier this week.
The same with my Scotch Mounting Tape purchased from Amazon. =)

What's a Squatty Potty? Well, go type it in Google and check it out.
I've constipation so it comes in handy.
I tried it for the 1st time this morning and I must say it helped get me into the rhythm of getting things rolling. Ha ha...

Have a great mid-week peeps!

Monday, 14.07.2014

Saturday morning, I went for my 7.14 a.m. Prayer Meeting held at the church. I didn't sleep well the night before. I also woke up an hour earlier than I really need to. As a result, I was lethargic and tired. I went to the church anyway. I thought this would be my last visit. However, I was so wrong. At the end of the prayer meeting, I felt refreshed! I attribute this gift to God. =) He is just amazing!!!

After church, I went to catch a movie - Maleficent. I bought the ticket on Friday as I know how my day for Saturday will be like. Angelina Jolie's a good actress but a Sleeping Beauty movie will always be a Sleeping Beauty movie no matter how you twist the story line. As such, I rate this as worthy for a weekday but not for a weekend ticket price. What's a movie which is worth the weekend price like? Take Transformers: Age of Distinction for example! Now, that's a movie I would pay a weekend price with gladness!

After church, I went to MTH. Some of the items which I've ordered previously, have arrived. Well, I managed to pick up a few more items which I got through browsing around the shop. You know how women can be. Give them some time in a shop and they end up with a few basketful of stuff. Ha ha... Let me first show you the items which I got from browsing around.

Next few photos are the ones ordered previously.

I ordered 5 of these but only 2 came.
Hence, there's still 3 pending. =)

There's a story behind this item.
I called asking for opinions. I wanted to get some embossing powder but I don't know which brand to go for. AC Zing or Wow? Well, this lady said most of her customers love Zing but she's the odd one out. She's now giving out her Zing powders as she doesn't like how it turns out. I just happen to be 1 of the lucky ones! She offered this to me free of charge! =)

So that about sums up my Saturday.

Sunday was the same routine - Get up, go to church, home for lunch.
I spent the rest of the day doing Hari Raya cards and a card for a friend. I made a friend while I was in MTH! Always good to have people who loves doing the things you love. =)

Well, I'm now waiting patiently for my parcel from PPP to arrive. I believe it should be here tomorrow but I'll do a check later to confirm. =)

Breakfast was Salami Sandwich.
It will be packed lunch today as I took my lunch for breakfast.
Dinner will be taken out of the house as well since I've BSF today.

I hope you have a GREAT Monday! I'm going to see what movies I can watch this weekend. >.<
